 The National Museum building was designed by internationally experienced architects and represents the culmination of a series of museum projects administered by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture. It will work as a modern museum with a window that opens up to the Oman’s historical and cultural scene. The National Museum is built over an area of 25,000 square metres in Muscat city, close to the al-‘Alam Palace, where it harmonises with its surroundings that embrace various cultural, historical and tourism potential.
     The objective behind the establishment of the National Museum was to preserve the assets of Oman’s heritage and maintain material and spiritual possessions that make up the history of Oman as well as its culture and arts. The museum will highlight the cultural and historical dimensions of the Sultanate of Oman by using and adopting best practices and standards in the field of museums including administration, collections management and exhibitions. The museum is also distinguished for embracing elements and special activities such as visitor services, museum education, research, publishing, public relations, marketing and museum security systems.
     The construction area of the museum is 13,000 square metres with 4,000 square metres of this area dedicated to thirteen permanent exhibition halls that feature different fields. Among these halls are Earth and Man, Maritime History, Weapons, Cultural Achievements, Aflaj, Coins, Pre-history and Ancient Ages, Oman and the Outer World, the Majesty of Islam and the Renaissance Era. The museum includes a hall for temporary exhibitions built to international standards.

 Southern Expressway road project by the Muscat Municipality. The 53 km-long expressway will link Qurum roundabout and Al Naseem roundabout. The period of construction is 51 months. The project will have 39 structures comprising bridges and by-passes, with the longest structure being built at Al Khoud.

The work consists of construction of four storey mosque building with 4 nos Minaret each 75m high and 32m dia. main dome, 2 nos two storey Gate houses and car parking .The Buildings are of insitu concrete frame with suspended slabs on pad foundation. Perimeter cavity walls and internal partitions are with non load bearing block work and some areas covered with GRC calligraphy panels. Internal floors are finished with ceramic and mosaic floor finishes and walls with ceramic, cement sand render and painting. Ceilings are fitted with GRC vault panels system. External fascade finish with painted finish on cement sand render and the rest is cladded with mechanically fixed stone cladding. Specialist joinery, Gypsum, Marble, Gold mosaic, Specialist decoration, Carpet, Soft landscaping & Irrigation, Dimmer system and Security system works are under Prime cost sums. External work consists of roads, car parks, jabel stone paving, pavements and retaining wall and Gate Houses. All electro/
mechanical work are included in this tender scope. Mosque floor area 18546m2 and Gate House floor area 534m2.

The work involves design development and completion of coordinated detailed design of the following buildings:

In addition to the above, the contract also includes a provisional sum for sea rescue building, ATM store and Radiosnode building.

 Batinah Expressway, is 272 kilometer long with 247.5 kilometer of link roads connecting the project to nearby towns. It is the westward continuation of the Muscat Expressway which extends from the end of Muscat Expressway towards Khatmat Milahah near the UAE border. The contract duration is three years and the project management team will consist of up to 26 consultants.

 five-star W Hotel Muscat, which will come up in close proximity to the existing InterContinental Muscat and the Royal Opera House Muscat.

 Adam Airbase in Oman has a volume of 250,000 passengers per year as well as accommodate the defence quarter for the storage of 12 Eurofighter Typhoon Aircraft on from 2017. The project involves all the necessary structural and infrastructural works for the airport, including runways, an aircraft wing, passenger terminals, an air traffic control centre, satellite structures, baggage control systems, and so on.

 The scope of works included the construction of the Main Office Building, which will accommodate the Deputy Prime Minister’s office and all of his staff. The 4 storey building will also include an Extension Building.

Also included is the construction of all foundation,guard rooms, paths, pavings and carriage ways. All roads and car shades, boundary wall, retaining walls and gates.

The awarded value of the project was RO 4.103 million.

 Larsen & Toubro said that the work would include building a new passenger terminal, an air traffic control complex, cargo and service buildings and all mechanical, electrical and plumbing works.

“The project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months,” the statement said. The passenger terminal will have a capacity to handle 500,000 people a year.

Project Description:
Located in Sohar, Oman, approximately 235 kilometers northwest of the capital Muscat, the greenfield project included a carbon plant, an ingot metal casting facility, and a port facility for storage and ship loading and unloading. At the time, Sohar was one of only two smelters in many years to be constructed from the ground up and the first in the Persian Gulf in a quarter century. It would include the world’s longest and highest-capacity potline, the row of cells that yield aluminum. It was no place for greenhorns. Indeed, the other greenfield smelter at the time, Fjarðaál, in Iceland, was a project we`ve done for Bechtel, too. Both became benchmark examples of how to execute metals megaprojects, and each has played a vital role in meeting the soaring global demand for aluminum.
